The Van Dyck Lounge is proud to announce the recreation of the historic brewery that was once the center of Schenectady. Named after John (Jack) McDonald, Mad Jack Brewing Company is a collection of unique beers that each have their own personality and flavor. The same McDonald family that has brought you other unique establishments in the area, Pinhead Susan's, The Van Dyck Lounge and The Stockade Inn, welcomes you to stop by and have a taste for yourself!

    A light and refreshing, AWARD WINNING, German lager brewed with 100% German pilsner malt and hops.

  • :: SCCC Second Chance Saison ::

    The students from the Introduction to Craft Brewing course at SCCC have joined up with us again here at Mad Jack to create a unique new brew! This semesters class have crafted a light bodied Saison recipe, full of grapefruit peel and boasting an impressive malt body with the taste of toasted, flaked rice.
    4.6% ABV 30 IBU

  • :: Dutchmen Ale ::

    Our classic house ale is a malty brew that gets its biscuit flavor from Pilsner, Munich, and Vienna malt.
    5.3% ABV 28 IBU

  • :: Schenectady Summer Night Golden Ale::

    A collaboration created by the three breweries of Schenectady county. This golden ale is a light, refreshing golden ale with orange peel added. Each brewery featured its own hop variety: Great Flats used NY Cascade, Mad Jack added Lemon Drop and Wolf Hollow brewed with Simcoe.
    4.5% ABV 15 IBU

  • :: Ales for A.L.S. Pale Ale ::

    Brewed for the A.L.S. charity, we've crafted a light, easy drinking pale ale that focuses on the unique, experimental hop blend they've provided. It packs a punch with tropical aromas and flavors, and $1 of every pint sold is donated back to the A.L.S. foundation to benefit research. Cheers to a great cause!

  • :: Rivers Rye APA ::

    Feeling Lucky? Take a chance on our unique American Pale Ale. Rye malt adds color and character while El Dorado hops bring a complimentary fruitiness reminiscent of pear and stone fruit. All in!
    5.9% ABV 40 IBU

  • :: Fightin' Irwin IPA ::

    2-Row and crystal malts lead way to an IPA dominated by American hops. Brewed and dry-hopped with Cascade, Centennial, El Dorado, and Citra hops for a tropical, citrus-like flavor.
    6.8% ABV 52 IBU

  • :: "Lights Out" D.I.P.A. ::

    This years version of our "Lights Out" Double IPA was brewed to be the most flavorful and hop forward beer we've yet produced. We dry hopped with over 1.5 lbs per barrel of Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo to maximize the delicate flavors and aromas of these delicious hops. The light malt character gives way to an explosion of fruit, citrus and pine hop aroma. The taste is equally punchy with a soft bitterness, strong grapefruit notes and lasting hoppy finish.
    8.3% ABV 46 IBU

  • :: Stockade Stout ::

    A Classic American Stout, with the aromas and flavors of coffee and roasted barley. Mildly sweet and balanced with a generous amount of cascade hops.
    6.5% ABV 50 IBU

  • :: Mont Pleasant Porter ::

    A house favorite, this porter is deep and complex with generous portions of Brown, Munich, and Vienna malts. Smooth, slightly sweet and full bodied with intense coffee and chocolate aromas and flavors.
